A Creative Moment

One of the joys of being a private pilot and owning a plane is the ability to “just go” whenever you feel like it. I started flying as a kid and had often dreamed of joining the MHC. However, the opportunity
never afforded itself until….

My wife and I were on our way from Huntsville, AL to Key West for a nice vacation. After a meal and fuel stop in Cross City, FL (you should stop in to check out the burgers) we were off on the final leg to Key West. Just past Tampa, things got quiet and a little boring. The next thing I know is that my wife has her hands in my lap and is tugging to get my shorts off. Now the cockpit of a Piper Warrior is not exactly roomy and certainly wasn’t designed to have two people on top of each other. And, oh yeah, I still had to fly the plane.

After moving the seat back as far as it would go, my wife was finally able to accomplish her goal and managed to get my shorts down around my knees. The problem remained how to actually join the club. Ever the resourceful woman, she took the situation in hand (and other parts of her body above the waist) and managed to bring me to a sky shattering conclusion. After resting for a couple of minutes I slid her shorts off, and took her situation in hand, repaying the wonderful favor she had bestowed on me.

That scene has been repeated many, many times over the years, and we have learned to carry tissues as standard issue in the flight bag so we can clean her chin afterwards.
