Business and Wine Mix Well

It was that famed evening hour when everyone wishes they could be in the arms of the one they love snuggled up by the fireplace. I just recently had finalized my divorce situation with my first wife (Long story that you don’t wish to hear about). I was lonely and constantly found myself second guessing life itself. I didn’t know what to do outside of the married life because I was accustomed to having my lover – to lover snuggle every night.
I was on my way to Paris for an extremely important corporate presentation and the jet was packed (first class all the way back to coach). Anyone who has made the trans – Atlantic trip knows that it is a long one. My female subordinate and I were getting into a detailed conversation about the success vs. failure causes in modern marriages. She didn’t believe in divorce and I explained to her that I didn’t either (outside of extenuating circumstances). I told her how lonely I was getting lately and she had felt the same way because she had experienced many rocky relationships as well.
After a few hours of chatting we began to get quite flirtatious and the wine didn’t hurt any either. She was telling me how cute I looked and I wore the blushed face of a third grader. Most of the other office men and women had fallen asleep for the big day and I had this screaming urge to tell her how beautiful she was. I’ve always been reluctant to let personal interfere with corporate but something just didn’t sit right in my stomach. I had the feeling that she wasn’t just another young lady from Human Relations. After we experienced one of those short pauses in the conversation where no one says anything, I worked up the balls to tell her just how I felt about her. I told her that she was beautiful and that I wanted to have dinner with her on our free night in Paris. She agreed and wore a familiar smile that reminded me of the day we met in the office. To make a long story short, we arrived five minutes late the next day to the big presentation in Paris because the evening didn’t end with just another Mile High experience in the lavatory. We both failed miserably at keeping it corporate on the 8 hour flight.
