The Story: I was a 27 year old and she was a 29 year at the time. We had gone to the Philippines to see where she grew up. On the way there I made mention about joining the mile high club. She had been a flight attendant for a year and I was an up and coming pilot. It was one of those gotta do it things on my list.
The plane was a new 777 and in the economy class there was a bathroom in the middle of the plane between the rows. I used this bathroom on the way there and noticed that the wall had a basic latch lock set up with a folding wall intended for handy cap users so they could have more space. I made a note of this.
3 weeks later on the way home we planned it out. We had a seat mate in the aisle seat. So as not to disturb her often we’d get up together 2 times during our 14 hr flight. 6am comes around and everyone is quiet. We go and use the opposite doors making it look natural. She unlatches the wall and I push and bingo the wall folds and there she is with a grin. Now we had twice the room so we played around for 10-15 min. And reset the room how we found it. I left and she left 2 min later. Later that morning I wanted to get a bottle of champagne to celebrate the occasion so I went to the back to ask. They said they weren’t going to serve it anymore. I told them it was “our 1 year anniversary” and she said,”I’ll see what I can do. Just go sit down”. I take my seat and 10 min later she shows up with a bottle, glasses and a letter. “On behalf of the the crew we’d like to congratulate you on your (anniversary)” we thanked her and keep the letter as a keep sake of our special moment. This memory always makes me smile.
